Each year a new cohort from our 'Newton Academy - the science club for girls' completes their three-year programme, and each year we celebrate their graduation by inviting an exceptional scientist to Lincoln to inspire the girls to do great things in the future

Dr Suzie Imber is a Planetary Scientist, and winner of the 2017 BBC2 television programme: Astronauts, Do You Have What It Takes?
Suzie is Associate Professor in Space Physics in the Department of Physics and Astonomy, University of Leicester, and specialises in space weather.

Emily Cummins inventor of the sustainable fridge which is 'powered' by dirty water but keeps medicines or small food items clean, dry and cool. Emily spent her gap year in Namibia refining her design and decided to give away the design plans in townships across southern Africa because she wanted to enable as many people as possible to build their own fridges. She was named as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Young People in the World 2010, won The Barclays Woman of the Year Award 2009 and Cosmopolitan magazine's Ultimate Save-the-Planet Pioneer 2008.
Young Minds 2017
Abbie Hutty is a British mechanical engineer who worked as the lead structures engineer on the European Space Agency ExoMars rover. In 2016 she was elected as the youngest ever Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Abbie is a STEM ambassador and advocates the science and technology education of young people and promotion of careers in the space industry.
