Barriers to Promotion: Women academics only

As a vital part of fulfilling our equality ambitions and to successfully renew our Athena SWAN Bronze Award, the Eleanor Glanville Centre has launched the Talkback Tuesday focus group programme to hear what colleagues think could make a difference. The aim is to ascertain the areas where we think we can improve our practice to support staff (both women and men) and to provide valuable feedback for our Athena SWAN application.

The first focus group of the series will explore women’s experiences of promotion within the university. The focus is understanding barriers relating to, but not limited to, gender. We are inviting female academics in Senior and Principal Lecturer posts to participate in one hour-long focus group.

The groups are part of the Centre’s work on gender equality in the university, including the institution’s application for the Athena Swan award. The Centre is a new interdisciplinary equality centre at the university.
