Gender equality refers to the equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities of women and men. It implies that the interests, needs and priorities of both women and men are taken into consideration, and is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviours, aspirations and the needs of women and men are equally valued and favoured. Gender equality is not a women’s issue but should also concern and fully engage men

Nicole is responsible for managing many of the equality initiatives run through the Centre. With a PhD in heritage science, Nicole was a co-founder of the Newton Academy – the Science Club for Girls, and is a keen advocate of promoting early science engagement through hands-on activities that are both challenging and fun. Staff profile
