Following the signing of the Athena SWAN Charter in 2008, the University embarked on a range of university-wide awareness-raising and data-collection activities, which informed the development of a strategy and implementation plan to address gender-related concerns and move forward the University’s ambitions to achieve Equality Charter Marks at both institutional and schools level.

The Equality Unit provides a central resource for our staff - increasing awareness and visibility of discrimination, highlighting our equality initiatives, giving insight to our progress against strategic equality aims & objectives, developing new research-informed initiatives, and celebrating the successes of all our staff.
